The Borussia Dortmund CEO believes that the Germany manager must have included more players from the Westfalenstadion outfit against France.
Hans-Joachim Watzke reckons that more players from the Signal Iduna Park outfit should have featured in the international friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. He mentioned that Germany manager, Joachim Low, made some questionable selection
decisions with the inclusion of only http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-Schmelzer-c23530 was a part of the squad but did not get his chance on the pitch.
While talking during a German television show, the Borussians CEO further added: "I've wondered why only one player from the German champions has played.”
On the other hand, Watzke stated that he was expecting to see the likes of Kevin Grosskreutz in the final squad. He opined that the winger could have been useful against Les Bleus especially having performed exceedingly well so
far.
The CEO also spoke about the omission of Schmelzer from the starting XI. He believes that the defender would certainly have added extra venom in the German defence which seemed fragile for most part of the match.
Apart from Schmelzer and Hummels, Mario Gotze and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sven-Bender-c34386 could also have been the part of Low’s squad had they been fit. The duo is out with injury for an indefinite period and will stay unavailable for Dortmund’s upcoming
league game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 on Saturday, March 03, at the Signal Iduna Park.
"I thought about it and it annoyed me. This has nothing to do with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dennis-Aogo-c10904 [who played instead of Schmelzer]. In any case, with his defensive strength, Schmelzer could have done well for Germany. Even Kevin Grosskreutz was
not called up to the squad, I don't understand," Watzke concluded.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cacau-c8235 managed a 90th minute consolation
for the hosts.
This was Germany’s last international fixture ahead of the European championship in June and Low will definitely have a selection headache when all his first team regulars will be available after recovering injury. Die Mannschaft
will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 in their opening game of the European championships on June 09.
