The Borussia Dortmund CEO has ignored Bayern’s ‘sarcastic’ claims ahead of the crucial encounter against the Bavarian giants.
Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has laughed off Bayern Munich’s mind games just two days ahead of a crucial encounter in the Bundesliga. The Borussians will host the Munich giants on Wednesday, April 11, at the Signal
Iduna Park in what is anticipated to be a ‘must-win’ game for both sides.
Bayern desperately need a win against the Black Yellows to get on level terms. A win would surely put Bayern atop the league standings on superior goal difference.
However, the Dortmund chief is confident of securing all the three points and also the title by the end of this season. He admitted that the game will be difficult for both sides but advised his players to keep their focus rather
on what Bayern have to say.
Watzke stated that no team can win a game by words and that is why Dortmund prefer remaining coy ahead of the game. He stated that his players found Bayern’s comments interesting and funny and is a good way to rejoice during the
intense training sessions.
While talking to Sky90, the CEO further added:
"You don't win a game with psychological games. I simply don't believe that their comments will affect us. Our players can't stop laughing about it. This is a completely different generation than those of the past. These guys
just want to play football and win the next game."
The Black Yellows are currently atop the league standings with 66 points, three clear of second-placed Bayern Munich. With just five games remaining in the competition, both sides will be looking to register a win in each of their
fixtures in order to strengthen their chances of winning this season’s crown.
Both the title contenders are sure of a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League and Dortmund would try improving upon their performance in this season’s competition where they crashed out in the group stage.
