Hans Kristian Vittinghus ousts Soon Huat Goh in Men’s Singles second round at Bitburger Open GP Gold
Denmark’s Hans Kristian Vittinghus advanced into Men’s Singles third round after delivering expected performance in second round encounter when he ousted Malaysia’s Soon Huat Goh at the Bitburger Open GP Gold 2012 on Wednesday, October 31, in Germany.
The top seeded Vittinghus, who is currently World Number 17 in Men’s Singles category, had to work a little hard to overpower his un-seeded Malaysian challenger while consuming 39 minutes on court.
Danish shuttler showed a little wobble in the opening game but recovered in time and managed to end up the contest in straight games with a dominating margin on score board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Soon Huat displayed his impressive skills in the opening set and created trouble for his rival all the way but could not control the pace in ending points of opening game and lost it.
Malaysian player could not produce better form in the concluding points of second game and lost the match with a decent margin.
In the opening game of this second round contest, both shuttlers played with impressive control in their strokes and stayed close at the opening stage.
The unmatched variations in Vittinghus’ shots also could not produce any gap on score board as his opponent was also playing at the same level.
Until the one-minute break, both players failed to get a strong position as the score remained close on board.
After the mid-game interval, Vittinghus tried his best to create gap but could not manage it as Soon Huat was aggressive and positive on court.
The score reached at 20-20 when Vittinghus played smart badminton by remaining composed on court and finished up the set with a tight margin of 22-20.
In the following set, Vittinghus played with superb speed and did not spare any room for Soon Huat to place his shots.
The perfectly executed drives and impressive smashes kept Vittinghus in strong position until the end of first part in second game.
Danish player continued putting up strong performance after the one-minute break and remained successful in winning the set with a reasonable 21-17 total on score board.
Vittinghus managed to win this interesting battle in straight games with a reasonable margin of 22-20 and 21-17.
