Hans Kristian Vittinghus tames Yong Zhao Ashton Chen in first round clash at Li Ning China Masters
Denmark’s spirited player Hans Kristian Vittinghus powers his way into Men’s Singles second round as he showed a strong character in first round clash against Singapore’s Yong Zhao Ashton Chen at the Li Ning China Masters 2012 at Changzhou, on Wednesday,
September 12.
The incredible Vittinghus, who is World Number 15 and the sixth seeded player in the main draw of the tournament, played to his maximum speed and emerged as the winner against his lower ranked Singaporean opponent with a decent margin.
Vittinghus has been playing superb badminton for the last one year and remained successful in finishing up the battle in straight games while taking the court time for 45 minutes.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Singaporean shuttler put up good show as he played competitive badminton against his Danish rival but he failed to play effective badminton and lost the battle with a reasonable score on the board.
It was a tussling contest between both spirited players as they showed an impressive performance on court and remained close at the early stage.
However, the Danish player started to play with variations and got a strong position by setting up a reasonable lead until the break.
After the mid-game break, Vittinghus remained consistent on court while playing with precision and managed to push his rival on back foot.
Vittinghus played with confident in the ending points of opening set and got advantage by taking the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
The second set of this contest was even more interesting when Yong Zhao played with aggression and he did not let Vittinghus to dictate the pace of rallies this time.
Both players entertained the crowd with top quality badminton and remained close in the opening half. They did not show any mercy for each other and kept on playing attacking game.
After the mid-game interval, Vittinghus paced up rallies by taking the bird early from all areas and managed to bag the second game in a tight fashion by a difference of 21-19.
The impressive Vittinghus showed exit to his Singaporean challenger in straight sets with a 21-17 and 21-19.
