World number 312, Hans Podlipnik-Castillo, successfully barged into the final qualifier of the Peugeot Challenger 2012 on the eve of Sunday. The Chile professional initially faced 3-6 shocker by his rival,Pierre-Ludovic Duclos,
but he quickly struck back and nudged forward to terminate the match, with a 7-5, 6-0 win held at the clay courts of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He jolted down his win in nearly two hours.
The two players encountered each other earlier at the Rhodes Challenger held in Greece. The lower ranked Canadian faced his rival in the final qualifier round and summed up his straight sets 6-2, 6-3 win in the year 2009.
The right-hander Canadian participant commenced an average starter in the opener and did not show any resistance. A series of serve breaks witnessed in the earlier part but Duclos managed to strike the lead. The momentum of the
game picked up a bit as the score line levelled down to 2-all in the fourth game. He completely shattered his challenger’s confidence and overpowered him with a strong conviction to dominate his rival. The higher ranked Chilean player did not show any resistance,
Duclos held his serve and eventually terminated the set with a 6-3 win.
Both the players held their serves the entire time in the second set. The score line evened out after every alternate, displaying how keen the two players were eager to clinch the lead. Nonetheless, the game started to shift momentum
towards Castillo. He stayed on track and with time over powered his contender. He nudged forward, cashing the lone serve break opportunity and finished the set with a 7-5 lead.
In the decider, the 26-year-old Canadian was unable to respond and he proved to be completely dormant as the game progressed. Castillo grabbed the opportunity and did not give his contender a single chance, completely shattering
his morale. He took the lead by firing powerful forehand and backhands. As the game progressed, he successively bagged away all the games and terminated the final set with a bagel.
The World number 312, Castillo, attacked the Canadian player with a five aces and had a reasonable initial serve of 62 percent. Duclos smashed back 59 percent initial serve converting 34 of 46 points.
