Hans Podlipnik-Castillo disposes Jose Pereira in the round one – Porto Alegre Challenger 2012 CH
Right-hander, Hans Podlipnik-Castillo, gave a three-set defeat to the local challenger, Jose Pereira, in the first round of the Porto Alegre Challenger 2012 held at the clay courts of Brazil. The Chile native summed up his win 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 on the eve of Wednesday in approximately three hours.
The 21-year-old Brazilian challenger held his serve for the initial part of the opening set and confidently drew the first blood to take off a decent start. He cashed his rival’s serve in the fourth game and marked a 3-1 lead. The higher ranked Chilean professional slowly picked momentum and dissolved his opponent's serve in the fifth game. The score line squared down twice to 3-all in the sixth and 4-all in the eighth game respectively. This completely over shadowed Castillo's hopes to dominate and his opponent jumped forward to grab the last two games, closing the initial set at 6-4.
In the second set, the two players gave each other a tough combat and held their serves for the initial part. The 24-year-old, Castillo achieved his desired break in the sixth games when he dissolved his opponent’s serve. Despite of his lower rank, the local challenger did not lose his self-assurance. The two participants oscillated the win between one another and kept on dissolving each other’s serves. Ultimately, the Chile participant terminated the set with a 7-5 score line.
In the final set, the 21-year-old Brazilian native grabbed the first two games and marked a 2-0 lead. However, the right-hander Chile participant reversed the winning order by cashing his challenger’s serves in the third and the fifth game respectively. After that point, Pereira was unable to react and he lost his morale to rally forward. Castillo beautifully fired powerful hits and concluded the match with a 6-4 win.
The Brazilian junior had a reasonable initial serve of 68 percent with 37 of 65 first and 19 of 31 second delivery points. He could only pocket away five of 14 break points and his rival secured six of 10 points. The world number 316, Castillo, secured 69 percent initial serve with 49 of 82 points.
