Hans Vittinghus, Anders Rasmussen excel in 2013 European Club Championships – Badminton news
Men’s Doubles team of Hans Kristian Vittinghus-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark won an important match point for their club in the elimination round of European Club Championships on May 31, 2013.
The Danish campaigners locked horns with a spirited duo Marin Baumann-Sebastien Vincent and this 51-minute tussle prolonged to three gruelling sets. Both teams, who were playing for BC Chambly Oise and Team Skaelskor Slagelse badminton club, kept the audience
intact while piling up the final figures of 26-24, 9-21 and 17-21.
Initially, the French pair ruled the court and bagged the opening match point but then their supremacy was challenged by the opposing duo and they lost this crucial match in a disappointing manner.
Marin and Sebastien forged a fruitful chemistry in the establishing rallies of first set and their commendable partnership helped them to gain a decent advantage. They capitalised this initial lead and doubled their total before the announcement of mid-game
break.
Although some back-to-back mistakes weakened their grip in third quarter of the set, yet they managed to strike hard and tipped the scale in their favour with a tight yet decisive figure of 26-24.
However, the story was entirely different in the second set of the match as the Danish team stormed back with a strong reply and brought the contest to right balance. The twosome of Hans Vittinghus and Andres Rasmussen looked at its best throughout this
set as both shuttlers did not give their competitors even a single chance to proceed on points table.
At first, they put the opposing shuttlers under huge pressure by piling up an unassailable total of 11 and then magnified the impact by registering an overwhelming score of 21-9.
The decider was expected to be a one sided affair but both teams challenged each other in all departments of game and made this tussle a memorable contest. They remained equal in first half of the set and did not allow each other to establish a permanent
lead.
However, latter part of the game saw Hans Vittinghus and Andres Rasmussen putting a decisive figure of 21-17 and claiming a splendid victory in European Club Championships.
