Hansen joined the worktab after his famous victory in the Breeders’ Cup
The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner, Hansen, returned to the worktab after a well deserved layoff. The Michael Maker trained juvenile colt is undefeated in three career starts, and he has a busy 2012 campaign ahead of him with the Grade 1 Kentucky
Derby as the ultimate goal if everything goes well.
Along with Hansen, some high profile names were on the work tabs all over South Florida with most of the tracks closed on Sunday.
Mucho Macho Man was at the Gulfstream Park along with Presious Passion, and over at Palm Meadows Pants on Fire, Awesome Feather and It’s Tricky started getting warmed up for the 2012 season.
Kendall Hansen and Sky Chai Racing’s undefeated 2-year-old Hansen has been in awesome form all year long, and he is one of those special colts, who have gone through their debut season without a single defeat.
The Kentucky bred son of Tapit, out of mare Stormy Sunday by Sir Cat, Hansen went an easy half mile at Gulfstream Park for trainer Mike Pender in 53 seconds flat.
Hansen turned in his first workout ever since his jaw dropping win at the Breeders’ Cup, where he wrapped up the race with a thrilling wire to wire run over the rampant Union Rags.
On 5 November, 2011, at Churchill Downs, Hansen took on a bulky field of 12 other juvenile colts in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and from the start till the end, he didn’t let anyone touch him. With his immense pace he topped the 1 1/16 mile distance
in 1 minute and 44.44 seconds, as Union Rags finished second and Creative Cause third.
Hansen is looking at a busy first half of the 2012 season, with three races leading up to the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby.
On 1 January, 2012, Hansen is pointed toward the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park over a mile at dirt. If he comes out of the race fine then he will run in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes on 26 February, 2012 and then on to the Grade 1 Florida
Derby.
