Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Hansen believes that the striker Andy Carroll will go into the Euro 2012 in remarkable form, and stated that he himself would not want to be up against him.
Carroll, who remains to this date Liverpool’s most expensive player in history, was in red-hot form in the closing stages of the season. The burly forward fired a late winner against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 in the semi-final of the FA Cup last month, and was arguably the
Reds best player in the final against Chelsea. He also played the central role against the Blues in a league match at Anfield to help his side record a 4-1 win. His tall height and brute strength makes him one of the most dangerous players when it comes to
playing the ball in the air.
His impressive performances late in the season also caught the eyes of the newly appointed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager Roy Hodgson, who named him in his 23-man squad for the European Championship.
Apart from Carroll, the other strikers in the squad include http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359.
While talking to reporters, Hansen said: "Roy will have watched the Cup final and the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 recently on television - and Andy was excellent.”
“I would not want to play against Andy Carroll because when the ball is chipped into the box, he's going to win it.”
The 56-year old also labelled the brand of football on display from the Englishman against Chelsea as ‘unplayable’. He highlighted the fact that not only does he wins the ball in the air most of the times, but also draws errors from the defenders by intimidating
them with his aggressive approach.
He continued, “Andy Carroll against Chelsea at Anfield was unplayable.”
“Everyone looks to Andy to be dominant in the air when the ball comes into the box and in his last six games, you wouldn't want to be playing against him, that's for sure.”
Carroll, who has also played for Newcastle United, last featured for the Three Lions in a friendly match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 in March 2011. In total, he has capped three international appearances for England.
