Hany Atiyo unanimously defeats Mazur Ali, still Egyptian light heavyweight champion – Boxing news
The world number 117 and Egypt’s number one light heavyweight Hany Atiyo successfully retained not only his Egyptian light heavyweight title but also continued his undefeated and invincible winning streak by beating world’s number 371 and Egypt’s number
two, Mazur Ali.
The bout was conducted late Friday and took place in Cairo University Indoor Hall situated in Giza, Egypt. The bout can be said as Egypt’s internal matter in deciding who the number one light heavyweight in the country is. Both men were thrown in a 12-round
bout and gave each other the beating of their lives.
Mazur and Hany, both are Egypt’s most prolific light heavyweights who had been ruling their land for a pretty long time. Hany invaded the country’s boxing scenario in 2009 and since then he is on a winning streak. He has been in a total 12 bouts and has
collected eight of his wins by knocking the opponent out cold. Mazur was the young 28-year-old’s second opponent who didn’t allow the Egyptian Hurricane to knock him out.
Hany has won the Egyptian light heavyweight title for the second time and in addition he has also won the African Boxing Union light heavyweight title. Mazur is not less impressive than his counterpart. The 36-year-old Mazur has collected more losses than
wins in his career. He has entered the squared ring a total 15 times, has won seven bouts, and lost a total of eight brawls.
A glance at both men’s stats, streak, talent, and ability clearly showed Hany’s upper hand over his veteran challenger. The bout continued till the end of the 12th round and was decided on the basis of points awarded by the three designated judges. The three
judges, Saleh Abdulbari, Hany Hassan, and Lophe Debes gave 108-118, 109-117, and 108-118 respectively to both men eventually giving the whole bout to Hany Atiyo.
The designated referee for the bout was Heshem Pasha. The promoter of the bout was Richard Nwoba /LouaaBoxing, Egypt’s top most promoters who are famous for putting up epic clashes between impressive opponents.
The bout was also denoted by some critics as a one-sided practice match since Mazur who despite of being 36-year-old hasn’t won many of his fights. Moreover his boxing talent is not equivalent to Hany at all. Atiyo possesses a knock out percentage of 66.67%
and Mazur’s knock out ratio is 26.67%, a perfect example of the huge difference between both men.
