Happiness..how to find it?

How do i become a happier person?

Or at least more optimistic?

I try to be happier and nicer to people but i feel its coming off very fake. How do i improve my attitude? I seem to forget to be nice to family and friends. Any tips on a better outlook?

  1. Just stop trying so hard to be happy cause that's what's making it worse. Do what makes you happy and just have a good time and over time it will come to you, eventually. Just be patient and wait! (:

    consider all of the billions of things that have had to occur in order for you to even ask such a  question.  Try this take a deep breath in and hold it for just a second or two and then breath out.  On your in breathe say to yourself, "thank you" and on the out breathe say to yourself, "father".  Only your ego gets in the way of happiness.  Try to quite your mind of itself.  allow thoughts to pass like clouds.  not all of them have the deep meaning that you may empower them with.  enjoy your breath.

  4. Happiness is a tricky one to understand for so many people in the world who do not have it. It is probably easier for them to explain what happiness isn't, because they live it everyday.

    I think the first misconception, is that so many people think that they will FIND happiness one day. They think when they get that awesome job, or meet that perfect person to marry. No, no, no.... these are examples of people defining happiness with people and things outside of themselves.

    We as equal human beings are born with happiness inside us. The problem is that happiness is shoved down, and covered in all our stress, sorrow, fear, anger, etc... and before you know it, it is no where in site, and long forgotten.

    The first step in finding your happiness is to get rid of all that negativity that is covering it up. Dig deep, weed it out, and before you know it your happiness with be down at the bottom shining bright.... just waiting for you to bring it out.

    This is why you cannot base your happiness on anything outside yourself. People disappoint us, and come and go in and out of our lives. Material obejects are only temporary and the newness wears off pretty fast. So, as you see these external forces are not contant. Your essence is constant. So, as you find your happiness you need to love yourself, and cherish that happiness. If you truly, truly find the real happiness inside, you will have the most incredible feeling and natural high ON LIFE!

  5. just think about what it would be like if that person were gone. and how you just want to be nice to them because one day, you wouldnt be able to be nice or mean to them.

    and to be happy, just do the things that do make you happy, or put you in a better mood

    avoid things that make you mad or upset. take time to yourself.

    writ in a diary to let out any grudges you might have.

  6. Yeah, stop trying to be happy.  Be happy.  Stop thinking about it so much, it comes naturally to you if it's the actual emotion you're feeling.

    But if you're all about being proactive about this happiness thing, try meditation and look into some Buddhism.  That kind of thing brings you inner peace, which often emits through happiness

  7. Try not to be to happy at once then it will look fake just be a little happy and slowly it will become more real.

  9. Happiness is very hard to define. Philosophers have struggled with this one for centuries.I get brief happiness from playing with puppies or children. I get more happiness from having good friends who like to invite me to dinner. The ininitialweeks of a reciprocal romance are positively blissful, though after that the work comes. I get deep satisfaction out of doing a difficult job well, and out of taking care of people (I work in a group home for adults with autism).But I think deep happiness comes out of reaching a life-long goal. If your ambition was to become a concert violinist, and you reach that goal, man will you be happy.

    But attaining life long goals doesn't always produce happiness. Look at Britney Spears and all the other successful muscians and actors who can't handle success and destroy their lives with drugs. Happiness can be very elusive.

  11. U have to first Love urself and appreciate who you are as a person. U will realize when u trully love urslef ur able to love ur family and friends better.

    Happiness starts within you. Do things u love and never neglect urself. Always put urself first before anybody else..

I know it sounds cliche, but enjoy the simple things in life.  And by simple, I mean really simple.  When you eat, actually focus on each bite (the texture, the flavor, etc. You'd be surprised how long it takes if you actually chew your food, instead of just swallowing).  Focus on trying to be present in each moment.  Analyze the feeling of putting clothes from the washer to the dryer (the dampness, the smell, the texture of the clothes).

    Or, if this is your thing, eat some shrooms.  Just once is enough to keep me happy for several months.  It reminds me of how I ought to be living my life.


  13. Try to look on how things can (and probably will) help in the long run, rather than what they're currently making you feel.

    Remember why you should be happy and thankful for what you have.

    (I'm not trying to be preachy, its just that it's a good way to appear genuinly optamistic.) Things almost always pick up, and you should just remember, when things are really bad, that things dont usually go beyond rock bottom.

    Another man read the same thing and answered, " you have the longest life time compared to your friends and family."

    The message is the same, but you can put it in two different ways. The first person was a pesamist and the second was an optomist.

  15. There are more medical answers to your questions as well. Go to Webmd.com and search emotional wellness tips. I found that daily physical exercise and exposure to the sun tend to help. also, surrounding yourself with positive people.

    Happiness is a door that is opened as a result of other things...it is a mirage that can be only reached when one is not chasing it...

  17. Try to spend ur time with ur good friends, who are very comfortable with you. People with whom you can talk anything. These are the only people who can change you. There will come a time when you will start being nicer to people whom you care like your family and friends. Forcing something only makes you a fake person.

  20. Sit before a mirror in a dark room with one light source in the middle,preferably a lighted candle,take deep breath for some time,keep everything out of mind then say I can do it and surely you will

Happiness is found within. you must do some soul-searching and find out why you aren't as happy as you want to be maybe there's a self esteem issue or you aren't happy with your physical appearance or quite possibly you think that people are just a pain in the a$$ in general and instead of finding a way to laugh at them it just pisses you off.  as it has been said a million times before "laughter is the best medicine" and in your case i think you need to laugh your way to happiness.
