Ok. I am in Washington DC.

I took my neice[also pregnant] and we are staying at a really nice hotel. On the 7th we go back to Alaska. I am thinking on getting a duck from the fire works center.

They sell farm animals from there petting zoo.

Well, Will I be able to take the duck with me in the car? All the way to Alaska?

Because I will not get it if it's not possible, but they have the prettiest Wood Ducks in the WORLD. they are beautiful.

Anyway, happy 4th of July!

  1. As your pet, the options are endless!  A box is fine but you'll need to keep the temps in your car (or the box) for the little bird depending on the birds age....  for example babies need 100-90 at week one, 90-80 at week two etc.  If you don't mind snuggling with your little ducklings the whole way, they might just make it.  IE duckling bird in your shirt, next to your chest just like momma.

If the birds are okay with 70-75 like you have it in your car, you should have no problems at all...  remember to keep them in your house when you arrive though as they are accustomed to warmer weather...

An easier solution might be to order the duck eggs and hatch them yourself at home... you get to be momma every step of the way!

Check also with your game bird commission and zoning... if it's against the law, you might want to keep your bill closed about your little ducks..  Going through Canada to get there...  I have no idea on the impact there.... it would suck to be detained for wood ducks?  You might try duck eggs in a chicken egg carton and hope they don't x-ray...

  2. Happy 4th of July to you too, It is too cold in Alaska for the duck. I don't think they can stand up for the cold weather there.Unless you live in a warm area then it's possible to bring it back. But bring some food for the duck when it gets hungry. Hope this helps! Have a happy 4th!

  3. Happy 4th of July to you too.

I think it would be OK but you'll have to keep it warm.  In the car make sure the temperature is warm and that it's OK in the box.  Also make sure it's warm in Alaska.  It may be too cold outside but just keep it in the house and I'm sure it'll be fine.  Have a good time with your new duck!
