Happy and sad men from the Korean Grand Prix… (Part 3)
Red Bull:
The day could not have been worse and if another similar day happens to be witnessed by the Austrian team again, they will soon be saying that the season could not have been more unfortunate.
The team started off the week just as brilliantly as they had the entire season. After seeing great practice sessions ahead of the Korean Grand Prix, Red Bull was delighted to embrace a brilliant qualifying. Though the team expected
that the track would not suit their car, yet they were able to secure the top two positions on the grid. Similarly, the race day started off very well for the team but only at the 18th lap they had the first blow of hard luck. The charts’ topper
and one of the strongest contenders of the championship, Mark Webber slipped on the track, went off too wide and finally had to pack up his race.
However, the team was still pretty confident as the other team driver Sebastian Vettel was leading the race. After having started from pole position, he kept going flawlessly at the slipperiest track of the season, but only at
the 4th lap, when his championship was almost certain, the most unexpected thing happened, the engine of the RB6 blew up. With this the race of the second team driver also came to an end, leaving the team depressed and disappointed.
Red Bull has managed to stay at the top of the Drivers’ as well the Constructors’ Championship all through the season. They had been able to demonstrate great pace and form at each and every race, thus proving to have the fastest
car of the season. Now with only two more races to go it is a big shock to see the team shaking badly and having their hopes dimmed.
This year marked the best season for the team since they entered the Formula one squad. The team has been able to take pole positions in 15 out of the total 17 races during the season. Moreover, they have bagged victory in 7 of
the races. With these stats it is really sad for the team to move out of the battle owing to poor luck.
On the other hand, it is also heartbreaking for Webber’s fans to see him losing a chance that might not be served to him again. This is for the first time in 8 years of his Formula One career that the racer has come so close to
the title.
When Lewis Hamilton wants it… he really wants it!
He is not just another Formula one driver, he is rather a spoiled brat who is always eager, enthusiastic, and in a rush for everything and of course, more aggressive than you ever thought he was. After a long while,
the McLaren driver finally had a weekend he desperately had anticipated for.
As the race Sunday dawned in Korea last weekend, the sky got covered with thick dark clouds and rain poured heavily keeping the cars from ramping at the newly built track.
Conditions kept worsening on the Yeongam track and the safety car kept cruising, informing that it was impossible to race. However, one man kept yelling and disagreeing and of course that was Hamilton.
He was eager to come on the track and get the race started. After a long series of mishaps and misfortunes in the past six races, he finally he saw podium once again. This second place finish has not only brought him back to the
title contention but has also elevated him to second place in the drivers’ championship from his initial third.
To be continued…
