  1. First of all, do you actually want to use your shoes?  If so, they are going to get dirty and there's nothing you can do about it.  Sure, they are pretty expensive shoes, but you didn't buy them so they could sit in your bag while you play in a cheaper pair that you don't mind getting dirty.  I've learned to live with it.  I know that even a $100+ pair of shoes won't get me through a whole season of tennis.  I am very rough on shoes.  But I don't baby them just cause they were expensive.

Lecture aside, yes, your shoes will get dirty.  I just don't think you need to worry about it.  A little dirt doesn't mean they won't work right anymore.

Now for part two of your question.  If you want something that won't lose tension, get a synthetic string.  That's about all I can tell you.  Natural gut strings will lose tension quickly, and are more sensitive to humidity and heat than other strings.  I've used Prince syn. gut with duraflex for a couple years now, and haven't noticed any loss of tension at all.

And the strings don't really contribute to control as much as feel.  Softer strings won't last as long, but they will provide the best feel.  "Harder" strings (for lack of a better term) are more durable, but will feel stiff.  Really, there is no such string that by itself will give you durability and feel.  They are pretty much opposite sides of the spectrum for strings.

To get the most of both worlds, you might want to try out a hybrid.  These use a durable string for the mains (up and down strings).  These are typically the first ones to break.  For the crosses (side to side strings) you'll want to use a softer, more feel type string.  And you'll just have to experiment with some combinations to find what you like the best.  For max durability, use a kevlar or nylon string for the mains.

  2. Yes, har-tru courts do get your shoes dirty. If you slide a lot, they will get really dirty. If your just hitting and not sliding you should be fine. Just wet your new shoes in the little water thing they provide right off of the clay courts. That wipes off the clay. For the strings, I would recommend the Babolat Pro Hurricane 16 string.

  3. yes, har tru and clay get ur shoes very dirty. they alredy ruined my nike all white shoes. get prince polyblend strings.

  4. har-tru courts not only got my shoes dirty, but my strings, bag, and tennis balls dirty. so yea, they do make em dirty, it dont matter tho i wud think, as long as the shoes are of good quality and last.

the string part, im not too sure. but ive been experimenting and the babalot pro hurricanes lost too much tension for me, i got em strung at 58, now they feel like 52's...

  5. Har-Tru tennis courts get your shoes dirty temporarily. I played on it 2 days ago with Wilson Open Evolutions and then after playing on hard court yesterday, today it looks just like it use to. I didn't even need to wash anything off. But i do suggest wiping your shoes after playing on the court.

Babolat Excel Premium are good strings for what you're looking for.

    Good luck.
