Harasiya scores for trainer John M. Oxx in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes
Trained by John M.Oxx, Harasiya was a source of pride for her connections when she emerged successful from the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown on 19th July, 2012, where she swiftly covered the distance of seven furlongs.
Johnny Murtagh was aboard the two-year-old and, the duo took control of the track as they finished 2 ½ lengths ahead of My Special J'S who was ridden by jockey, Colin O'Donoghue.
The third place was secured by Roseraie, who was mounted by Chris Hayes and she finished 1 ¼ lengths after the runner-up.
The daughter of Pivotal, out of mare Hazariya, raced on the outside and made her winning move in the closing stages of the race. When the jockey asked for it, she responded well.
Discussing the race strategy, the trainer commented:
"She was a little wide and Johnny wanted to get going and she quickened up well. She goes through that soft ground well. It remains to be seen whether she'll handle good to firm ground. It's a bit of a question mark, but we'll find out when the time
comes.”
The winner, who is owned by His Highness Aga Khan, lived up to all the expectations, as she justified her status of race favourite. With this victory, she is now 2 for 2, looking to complete her hat-trick in the next start.
The soft surface of the track seems to work well in the favour of the brown filly. She bolted through the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2yo Fillies Maiden on 14th June, 2012, where she managed to defeat the Kevin
Prendergast trained, Nurpur, by 2 ¼ lengths.
The future of the young runner is uncertain but the trainer told the media that:
"We'll see now whether or not to go for the Debutante Stakes. She'll tell us when she wants to run.”
This was the only victory on Johnny Murtagh’s on the Leopardstown card but, he came close to another one in the 1 mile, 6 furlong Challenge Stakes, where he rode the John M. Oxx trained, Aklan, and lost the victory by 2 lengths to Galileo's Choice.
