Respective captains of Mumbai Indians and Trinidad & Tobago, Harbhajan Singh and Darren Ganga, have shown disappointment after their Champions League T20 fixture at Bangalore on the 26th of September, 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 won the match by one wicket on the last ball of the match but their captain and Test cricketer, Harbhajan, has said that his team did not deserve to win after such a poor showing with the bat. He slammed his batsmen and urged them to perform better
in the upcoming matches if the Indians are to have any chances of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Mumbai restricted the opposition to just 98 runs in the first innings but the team from the Caribbean bounced back and displayed a brilliant effort with the ball. However, Mumbai was able to cross the line on the very last ball of the match.
Harbhajan feels that it was an easy task for the batsmen but they made it difficult themselves by playing some unnecessary strokes, which led to their downfall.
The Mumbai Indians’ captain said, "We needed to tick the ball around, but we looked to play too many shots. We just weren't there with the bat. If we keep batting like this, we won't be here for long. We won today, but if we want to be there for the semis,
we can't keep playing this kind of cricket."
On the other side of the coin, Trinidad’s captain and discarded Test cricketer, Darren Ganga, is also not happy and expressed his disappointment after a narrow defeat.
Just like Harbhajan, Ganga is also not happy with his batsmen but praised the efforts of his bowlers and fielders, whom he considered unlucky after the loss.
"Disappointing, the result. The guys are shattered. Imagine the manner we fought, but didn't come out winning. Definitely ordinary batting, we showed a lot of heart in the field," said Ganga.
West Indian pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233, was named as the Player of the Match for his superb spell of fast bowling. The new ball bowler picked up three wickets in his quota of four overs, after giving away a mere 17 runs.
