Harbhajan Singh is still one of the best spinners in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, says Anil Kumble – Cricket News Update
India’s former skipper and legendary leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 and believes that the off-spinner from Punjab is still one of the best bowlers in the country.
The 32-year-old cricketer remained an integral part of the Indian team in the previous decade, playing a huge role in the Men in Blue’s success in all three formats.
The wily off-spinner however, has been a touch off-colour since the last couple of years, eventually losing his place in the side after India’s forgettable tour of England last year. Since then, Harbhajan has been working extremely hard in India’s domestic
sport as well as in county cricket in England.
The cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 after giving away merely 12
runs in his four overs.
Kumble, who himself is one of the game’s greatest spinners, rates Harbhajan very high and believes that he has been a great servant of Indian cricket over the years. The former leg-spinner backs the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians’ captain to come good in future.
"He's been exceptional. He lost a little bit of confidence and the only way to regain it is to be part of the team and play more and more matches. He's done that before and I see no reason why he cannot perform again. I certainly feel that Bhajji is still
one of the best spinners that we have in India and it's just a matter of time before he comes back to bowling at his best," he said.
Harbhajan already has more than 650 international scalps under his belt, which is an exceptional performance for a spinner. With his ability to turn the ball on any surface, the off-spinner is a true match-winner on a given day.
One of the major reasons behind the 32-year-old cricketer’s decline in form, in Kumble’s opinion, is that the fact that India have played a lot of cricket away from home in the last two years where the pitches were not conducive for spin bowling.
"I don't think he's done badly at Test level. It's just that he's played a lot of matches outside of India," he added.
