The struggling Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, is likely to miss out the One-dDy and Twenty20 leg of the ongoing tour of England.
The Kris Srikkanth-led BCCI selectors will meet on Saturday to pick the squad for the five One Day Internationals and one-off T20 game, and the turbanator is expected to come under the scanner again. If the 31-year-old fails to get selectors' nod this weekend,
things could go from bad to worse for the offie.
Reports have suggested that the limited overs squad, to be announced over the weekend, will have a five-pronged pace attack with only two spinners. Leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravindra-c84236 Ashwin are ahead of Bhaji in the fight for the spinners'
slot.
Harbhajan is under fire since his unimpressive performance at Lord’s, where he returned with figures of 218 for 1. The turbanator came up with an improved performance in the second Test where he conceded 69 runs from 13.4 for Stuart Broad’s wicket before
leaving the field due to abdominal strain.
Despite and improved performance at Trent Bridge, the cricket pundits and former India cricketers have called for Bhaji’s axe from the squad in the remainder of the series.
"There's no point discussing his (Harbhajan) lack of flight or lack of spin or his action because we have been doing that for years," said the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bishan-Singh-Bedi-c48133, while talking to the media reporters earlier this
week.
"He lacks guile, and that's a great handicap for a spinner. The right areas to bowl lie not on the 22 yards but in between your ears, in the mind," Bedi added further.
The Jalandhar off-spinner has already been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing four-match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 after he picked up an abdominal strain in the second Test of the series at Trent Bridge.
Harbhajan’s injury earned http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PP-Ojha-c2198 a surprise call up. However, in the presence of likes of Amit Mishra, Ojha is unlikely to make the playing XI’s for the third Test against England commencing on August 10 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
