Harbour Watch’s connections may not run him in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas
Harbour Watch, the undefeated three-year-old colt is the punters and the bookmakers a little skeptical, as his connections are ruling him out of the Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, which is scheduled to take place on 5th
May, 2012.
Trained by Richard Hannon for owners, H. Robin Heffer and Qatar Bloodstock, the young runner triumphed in his career maiden.
He entered the Bridget Swire Memorial Maiden Stakes at Salisbury with the odds of 11 to 4. Ridden by jockey, Richard Hughes, he claimed the victory, as he defeated, Avon Pearl, by 3 ¾ lengths.
He ran as the evening’s favourite in the Tanqueray Richmond Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) at Goodwood on 29th July, 2011, where he was paired with the same jockey. He dominated the track as he beat, Bannock, by 2 ¼ lengths
and comfortably broke through the wire first.
The son of Acclamation, out of mare, Gorband, may not run in the Qipco 2,000 as Richard Hannon junior, who assists his father with the training told the press that: "I think it is safe to say now that he is not going to make the 2,000 Guineas.
"We will look for something later in the season for him. He could go for the Irish Guineas or to Royal Ascot for the St James's Palace Stakes which would give us an extra couple of weeks."
Best Terms, daughter of Exceed And Excel, out of Sharp Terms, has uplifted the spirits of those concerned, as she will compete in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Stakes 21st April, 2012 at Newbury.
Hannon stated to the media that "She has done very well over the winter and she did a bit of work two or three weeks ago under Hughsie and was excellent."
She triumphed over, Heyward Girl, by ½ a length in her career maiden, which took place on 18th April, 2011 at Windsor in the Sportingbet.com Maiden Auction Fillies' Stakes.
Under Richard Hughes, she achieved the first place finish in the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) at York on 18th August, 2011, where she defeated, Fire Lily, by 2 lengths.
Both these runners have been performing well and they are certainly excelling under Hannon’s training.
