is there a service that can recover files on an old hard drive. my brother clogged up what we had left of our tiny 18GB hard drive. the computer wont even turn on and all i want is our old files.

  1. The easiest way to recover the files is to install it into another PC, as a extra drive then move or burn the files to a CD.

    With the PC OFF. Just open the case, remove old drive from the old PC, and put it in the 2nd PC in the same way, but leave the 2nd PC's drive where it is, then start up the 2nd PC. If the 2nd PC won't boot up when you do this then change the jumpers on the old drive to "slave". Then try again. I think you can even get an adapter so you can plug the old drive into a USB port. Then u don't have to open the case at all.


  2. if the pc wont even turn on then chances are that your hard drive is not your problem but yes you can recover the info, you just have to take it to a local pc shop and they will be able to get some if not all of the info off of it. good luck
