I have just had a baby and want a basic camcorder to capture all her cute moments.

I want to be able to share video online as well as edit video and burn DVD's to send to family.

Would you suggest at hard drive or DVD camcorder and why?

  1. i suggest neither. both HDD and dvd compress the image considerably and will look bad when played on higher resolution tv's such as LCD or plasma.

although older, mini dv is still a much better option.

    - tapes are cheap and archive better.

    - res is better (as discussed)

    - tapes are cheap (dvds are not)

  2. I would suggest a hard drive camcorder because no hassle of finding dvds to tape on. Also you can hold alot of recordings and Its easier to send online when its already in data format. And you can just burn the dvds if you want dvds.

  3. Hard Drive definitely. MiniDVD are designed for recording and quick burning to DVD with no editing. Plus you would have to rip MiniDVD's to your computer before you could send the video to people. With HDD, you can edit and choose to burn to a DVD, or send online, or many other choices. Plus HDD can record a LOT more.
