It's been there for about five years now and hasn't changed. It's on the floor of my mouth to the left under my tongue behind my bottom front teeth and is the size of a large pea, is hard and does not move or hurt. I also experience grinding sounds in my left jaw and have suffered from parotitis recently. Any help or advcie would be great!

  1. GO TO YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER. Immediately. And tell him/her that you are concerned about mouth cancer. Maybe it's nothing, but if it's malignant, the sooner they catch it, the less likely that you'll have to have a large amount of tissue removed from your mouth.

  2. It is always a good idea to have any bumps checked out by a dentist or oral surgeon.    It could be what is called a " Tori "  which means harmless boney lump,   most people has some sort of one in their mouth,  and they don't even know it.     I have 2 under my tongue as well.

If you have been going to a dentist,  they usually check for these things during a routine exam,  and probably would have told you if your lump was a problem,   if it's just a harmless Tori,  they wouldn't even have mentioned it.

But for your peace of mind,  schedule a visit with your dentist,  or if your regular checkup is coming up soon,  show it to them at that time.   You'll feel better knowing what it is.

If it is something that should be removed,   they can do it there,  or send you to an oral surgeon,  who can even do it while you're asleep if you like.
