  1. If u r concerned re: harsh chemicals (ie CLR), try this 1st:  pour full bucket of water in toilet - cause it 2 flush (physics) & low water level.  Heat white vinegar - 1/2 gallon or so. Pour HOT vinegar in toilet & put lid down. Let sit @ least 30 minutes, then scrub well.  good luck.

  2. I use CLR on mine.  Not to sound gross or anything, but a lot of places in the south where it's warmer actually have a problem with mildew in the toilet bowl, and it really does look a lot like hard water stains.  putting about a cup of bleach in your toilet tank, letting it sit for 15-20 min, then flushing a couple of times will kill most of the mildew (and get rid of the bleach).  Using the bleach also makes the job a little more sanitary, and a little easier.

  3. I would CLR it. Pour in 2 cups of CLR and let sit for 10-20 minutes. Then scrub with an old brush. Throw brush away and then flush several times. Should be as good as new.

  4. For toilet bowls add 1 liter of vinegar to the bowl itself and scrub with a toilet brush to dissolve away hard water stains that have built up over time. Also, by adding 1 liter of pure vinegar to the cistern (tank at back of toilet) this not only removes any stains from there but also removes any from underneath the rim on the next flush.

Sometimes stains are extra stubborn – for this make a paste of white vinegar and baking soda and scrub gently with a soft brush or sponge. Never use an abrasive cleaner like scouring pads, powders or steel wool as this will scratch the surface.

    Hope that helps!

  5. There is a product called Works and they have it in toilet bowl cleaner. I put it on and let it set for 30 mins. or so. It works awesome, you just have to be careful not to get it on anything. It is very powerful. Also CLR works good. Hope this helps.

  6. This may sound funny to some.........denture tablets work wonders in toilet bowls! Drop a couple in before bedtime and let soak overnight. The next morning, brush and flush.

  7. for home remedies, try to pour soda (coke) in the toilet bowl and let it sit for about half an hour, after that scrub it with scrubbing pad then rinse...

  8. buy some Iron Out at the hardware store scrub the spots with one of those green pads and get a water softener installed in the house to control the Iron
