I'm a beginner into the whole photography thing. I never owned a SLR camera before. I want to buy one and take photography classes. I really like Nikon cameras. I was in between the D40 or the D60. BUT, I recently saw the Canon EOS Rebel xTi and fell in love with that one too! Ugh! Lol. Anyways, which one should I get? I'm really confused!

So I'm between a Nikon D40 or D60 or a Canon EOS Rebel xTi.

THanks!

  1. Here's one way to look at it.

You can get a Nikon D60, with a 18-55mm vr lens for $649.99.

Or you can get a Nikon D40 with an 18-55mm AND a 55-200mm for $574.99.

Both are excellent beginner SLR's.  The D60, with it's higher resolution, will give you more flexibility when you crop your images.  Yet the D40 is capable of excellent photography.

Some samples of D40 images.  Just click on the "Now showing" box to look at different subjects"

And some from the D60.  You can do the same for different subjects.

Basic choice, resolution vs. flexibility of a system.  Either way, you'll end up with a great camera.

Please ask if you have any other questions.
