Hard disk crash. Im not able to boot my laptop. ?

I dont mind formatting the HD and losing the data on the HD as i have a backup. Is there a way I can boot it and format the HD? I have the boot disk. Any suggestions??

  1. go to bios settings. make sure ur hdd is detected in it. make cdrom as ur first boot device. put the winxp cd and save bios setting. it will ask 'press any key to boot from cd......' press any key and follow the steps. kardevi143@yahoo.co.in


  2. If the disk has crashed you need to get a new hard drive (formatting it won't last and might not even be possible).

    By going into the BIOS (or using a boot selection meun if you computer has one) you should be able to boot from almost anything but it's not much point unless you get a new hard drive (if it's under warranty just send it back and you'll get a free repair).
