  1. this wouldnt have been a problem if you had a mac

  2. Connect your hard drive as external hard to another Pc with XP os.

you'll see it like external driver then scan it with updated virus scan.

After that is you still cant copy some files you should try Recovery Programs for damaged hard.

  3. you should try to format the hard drive

  4. Maybe the laptop hard drive does not see you as administrator. I have never tried that before so I guess I can't really answer. Just a guess. Try going into the account settings for the laptop hard drive and make sure that you can access everything as the admin.

  5. go to my computer and click on the Programs icon then at the bottom left  there should be a icon that says "make movable files", click that. Then highlight all the flies and click "make movable"

  6. Dude I am not trying to be an *** but i had this same d**n problem. I went to a pc store and they sell a usb that you you connect to both computers and answer two questions and it does it for you. Its really easy you should go get that if you  had no success yet. it is really helpful. i hope this helped man.

    peace.

  7. this is very possible if you made your folders 'Private' in your lappy.  any windows os will not let you access these folders unless you are signed in using those original credentials. So, if you are stuck 'cos of this, there are two possible ways:-

One:-  boot in your desktop, using this (laptop's hard drive) through USB in 'safe mode'.  login using your laptop's user name and pw. The desktop's hard drives will appear in 'My Computer'. Do your thing :)

Two:  If that doesnt, get your hands on a Live Linux CD/DVD.  Ubuntu, is perhaps, the best.  Boot up using the Live CD.  It should show all the innards of windows files, including the pagefile!! you would see all the drives, including USB ones. Go ahead and copy all that you need.

Note: If, however, you  encrypted the laptop HDD, the linux way may not work.

    All the best. :)
