Question:

Hard drive / Ram Question?

I just had a question. What is the difference between a hard drive and ram? I know that ram helps you multi-task and is random access memory. But how does that differ from a hard drive?

For example, would I depend on a hard drive, or ram when considered about how many mp3's i can fit onto a computer? I would think a hard drive, but why that, and NOT ram?

Also, are there any other factors to concern when filling up space on your hard drive, as long as you have space on your hard drive, your computer can handle it right?

Thanks for the help, and sorry for sounding confusing!

    Ram

  2. Your hard drive stores information permanently. Ram only stores information temporarily and only while it is being used or when it is needed.

The more Ram you have up to 3GB the faster your computer will run.

When you don't have enough RAM your computer will use a part of your hard drive as memory which is a lot slower.

For instructions on cleaning your hard drive go to link below and follow instructions

  3. Ram(memory) is a total seperate entity. The amount of hard drive space you have will be in control panel/system/general tab. The amount of ram is also listed there. 60gb hard drive will hold a ton of mp3's.
