Hard drive almost full?

My hard drive on my laptop is almost full, but my laptop came with a built-in 'data drive'. What files can I move over to the data drive? For instance, if I moved the Windows Vista 'Pictures' folder over to the data drive, would it still show up on my desktop like it normally does?

My data drive is empty because I wasn't really sure how to utilize it.

  1. The best option will be to create another folder on the data drive, let's say called Pics2 , then create a shortcut on your desktop to it,

If you just move your My Pictures, it will probably break things..

once you create the new folder, then you can put new photos there, or just copy what you have on the My Pictures to there

  2. If you dragged your pictures into the data drive, any changes you made in either folder would not automatically change in the other folder. You would have to manual make changes to both. You could archive old images and files that you do not often access, on your data drive.

  3. You will get gigs back, do this....

Disk clean-up > more options tab > delete system restore points WAIT untill the ok button returns cuz it takes a while, the last restore point is untouched
