Question:

Hard drive failing or a virus or something else?

So this morning my laptop wouldn't really turn on..like all the lights were on but it wouldnt load. I finally got it on, and it tried to load XP and flashed a blue screen at me, then it turned off again.

I got it to turn on again, did a system restore in case I did something stupid yesterday. After it finished that, it was on and working for a minute until the screen started flashing black a few times, and then I got a blue screen with irql_not_less_or_equal I think.

Oh, the laptop has lately been having trouble loading up processes when it starts up. I have just the basic processes loading during startup, there is no extra junk there..just basic stuff. Yet it still takes forever, whereas it used to take a few seconds.

Any idea what's going on?

  3. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes .
