I will probably use it mostly for uploading videos onto the internet, like YouTube, and want to be able to edit them as easily as possible. My main concern is quality, then ease of editing and uploading.

  1. If you're uploading to YouTube, then you're already shooting yourself in the foot by overspending on both an HD (Hard Drive) or Mini DVD Camcorder.  YouTube doesn't support very good quality video to begin with and to use a camcorder that produces amazing quality video like a HD or M-DVD isn't very efficient.  You're honestly better off buying a mini-DV or Hi8 camcorder... or even a hand-held MMC/SD/Internal Storage Camcorder.

If you do have you heart set on the two options provided though go with the HD.  An HD camcorder records straight to a hard drive with files labled based on time.  All you do is connect the camcorder to the computer using a firewire (or mini-USB depending on brand) and transfer the files you want.  An HD camcorder also has the one up over a M-DVD camcorder in the fact that you're not having to constantly buy new DVDs to record video to and actively delete material you shot that you don't want.

  2. Hard drive because you never have to buy a new one and it has a huge amount of memory
