Hard-hitting golfers of the Ryder Cup teams (Part I)
Talking of exacting on the drives, golfers like Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson hold firm standings in the ratings. If these men and their ruthless shots are put aside for a minute than let all be known that Corey Pavin’s all American team is sure to create
a hassle in the 2010 Ryder Cup, being held at Celtic Manor from 1st-3rd October 2010.
These players surely know how to treat the ball and it is most likely that they would be the ones waltzing back over the Atlantic with the cup. Comparing Corey Pavin’s and Colin Montgomerie’s men, the Americans stand out with their ball thrashing king sweeps.
Pavin’s team has its own Brawn Busting goals in the hard yard fields.
Considering Watson and Johnson, these two are the most colossal hitters in the team. The Ryder Cup rookies add strength to the American side and are thus a great addition in the quality of play. Rest of the team is no way feeble either. A player of the likes
of Tiger Woods is no joke. Similarly, Jeff Overton and Rickie flower also cannot be ignored in the macho world of golf hitting.
Meanwhile, the 2008 Ryder Cup winning captain, Paul Azinger, has praised this year’s American team and he seems impressed with the non-slouches Pavin has collected. He declared that this year’s team is the best longest-hitting one in the history of Ryder
Cup as Dustin, Bubba, Phil, Tiger, Rickie and Jeff are all those golfers who can crush the ball with their sticks. He added that if Steve Stricker is included in the list then the team’s strength knows no bounds.
On the other hand, European team seems to be lagging behind in this aspect as the strongest ball hitter in Montgomerie’s squad appears to be Rory Mcllory. This Northern Irishman would probably thrash the white ball much better than the rest of his team-mates.
Golf experts believe that he is most likely to gate crash the Manor since he has an average of 300 yards and currently stands at 9th place.
Moving further down the rankings to 51st, Padraig Harrington might be the one threat that the European team can give to the Americans. Harrington has won the Major Championship 3 times and will be under the radar during the whole game. Rhys Davies
is yet another player that can be considered for the list of ball thrashers. Critics could go close to Davies and his hitting statistics, but not that close. The Bridgend’s rising star of the European game is close to holding 1 million Euros in earnings.
The 25-year-old has had a vast experience of the America side before entering the European squad, so his opinion regarding the players’ driving merits would obviously be listened to. If there is anyone out there who has had a taste of what DJ can do with
his golf stick and also Fowler’s skilful game, it’s Davies.
