Hard-hitting golfers of the Ryder Cup teams (Part II)
Rhys Davies’ game with Rickie Fowler and Dustin Johnson had been a good enough experience of the American side for him. Davies admits that he had played well with these two golfers and also achieved quiet a success.
According to Davies, Rickie is an awesome golfer but with the dress code that the Ryder Cup is providing, he might not be that happy. Rickie is considered to be a player with aggressive shots and he in no way plays a defensive game. Rickie has had many top
ten finishes while amongst them three were runner up positions.
Davies predicts that Rickie would probably have his focus on eagles and birdies in the game. With his hitting ability, if Rickie by any chance faces two or three wayward shots, he wouldn’t mind that much. Rhys praised the strength that Rickie possesses and
said that his fearless attitude and strong determined march towards the goal is always apparent in his game.
Davies said of Dustin Johnson that he is the longest drive hitting player. Rhys Davies has played amateur as well as professional golf but has never played golf with a golfer who could hit yards that long. His history of playing with DJ goes way back to
his college days. As for Bubba Watson, Davies opined that he is a player who can also hit far but Dustin is still the longest hitter. Form the tee; golf experts believe that the U.S. team would display longer off stroke as compared to the European side.
Meanwhile, Gareme McDowell has the same thoughts as Davies. He is the winner of US Open as well as Wales Open while he is currently playing the Austrian Open. McDowell stated that the layout Celtic Manor holds in 2010 may nullify the American side’s power.
He compared the U.S. hard hitters with the European swings and claimed that the European side has an unbelievable line up this year as well. He added that the layout which Celtic Manor possesses at present might suit the European style well.
Experts suggest that the game is all about drives. U.S. side tends to play a game that requires vast and wide open golf courses but on the other hand, European side doesn’t need that type of golf courses. McDowell argued that what matters more is the accuracy
with which the game is played instead of the strength with which the ball is grinded as the layout isn’t of a short golf course.
The tee shots at the 2010 Ryder cup would probably be a collection of hard hitting strokes as well as smooth drives. Overall, a nerve-shredding play is expected. With golfers of highest quality to play against each other, the 2010 Ryder Cup is just a fortnight
away. However, how the European side see of the ball thrashing U.S. side from tee to green is purely another matter at hand.
