It's too late now... all vets are closed and she has a very hard lump on her stomach as if a bone is dislocated.. it hurts her when touched I SWEAR it wasn't there an hour ago! and she's been asleep the whole time? Maybe she jumped off of where she likes to sleep and got hurt? Please help!

  1. If you're going to wait until morning, check on her at least every hour- you don't have to wake her up if she is asleep, but make sure she is breathing without labored breathing (panting). If she is breathing okay, and if she isn't wailing, wait until morning. It takes a lot of pain for cats and dogs to wail in pain. If she is struggling to breathe or if she is wailing, suck it up and take her to an emergency vet. It is what you would want done for you and nonhuman creatures feel pain just as we do. But do check on her and be there WHEN THE VET OPENS (I'm not meaning to shout; the caps are for emphasis) tomorrow if you wait that long!

Don't touch her there since you can't diagnose it and could make it worse. Let the vet do that as the vet has the probability of success of diagnosing. Be sure to let us know when you pick your best answer what the problem was and how your kitten is doing. I will say a prayer for you both tonight!

  2. There are emergency vet clinics...it costs ALOT of money tho....hope ur rich

  3. If there is an Emergency Vet you can go to, I would suggest taking her. It could be a infection pouch, which would hurt her if you touch it. The fact she is sleeping too much indicates something is wrong with she. Check to see if she is running a fever. She might have hurt herself, which would need a vets attention.

  4. Get her to a vet to be sure.  There are a lot of things that can go wrong with a kitten.

If your kitten is on solid or semi-solid food, then she may have something wrong with her insides - gas or an impacted lump of food material in a passageway.  If you see her throwing up, run, do not walk, to your vet.

  5. It sounds like your kitten has an umbilical hernia, and part of her intestine has become strangulated. This is VERY painful for your kitten and will feel like a hard knot or lump on her belly.

Obviously I can't diagnose this (not a vet but was a vet tech and do cat rescue) but it would be my best educated guess.

Please don't feed her as if there IS a strangulation of the intestines, this can lead to a blockage of the intestines. If you don't get a strangulation taken care of as soon as possible, the intestine will become necrotic and die. This can lead to infection and possibly death.

Please see if there is an Emergency Clinic open 24 hours (most cities have them) and take her in as soon as you can. If there isn't one or you can't afford it (and I understand that believe me) take her to your vet as SOON as they open in the morning. Don't wait for an appointment, just in first thing.

For tonight, if you can't get her to the E-Clinic, keep her warm and don't allow her to play or run around. No food. If you have a carrier for her, keep her in there with soft warm blankets and check on her often.

    Best of luck!

  6. It's impossible to diagnose it, but as long as she is acting okay now she should be fine until you can get her to a vet.  She probably did jump and hurt herself and it took a while for the area to swell.

  7. My cat had an umbilical hernia when she was a kittten. The vet fixed it for her. She may have jumped and caused the hernia. If she split her stomach muscles and part of her intestines are coming through, it will be painful. Especially if she just injured it. She'll be ok until morning. Call your vet as soon as you can.
