Where in the body are calcium and phosphorus stored before being released into the bloodstream?

  1. Phosphate is stored in the bones, but also in many cells of the body.

    Calcium is mostly stored in the bones (I think it's about 90% of the total body calcium) but there is also calcium stored in muscle fibres in the sercoplasmic reticulum (a sac in the middle of muscle cells and the calcium is released in order to allow the muscle to contract then sequestered to relax the muscle)

    So calcium can be in the bones, muslce fibres and the heart (as the heart is a muscle)


  2. Calcium phosphate is the main mineral constituent of bone.

    Calcium ions are necessary in nerve impulse conduction.
