Hi people! Do you have difficulty finding your favorite foreign food, foodstuff or cooking utensils in conventional supermarkets like Ralphs or warehouse/superstore like Walmart or Costco? Please name or list the food items that you have trouble buying, the country of origin where the food stuff originated from. Please explain how the ingredient/utensil is used in cooking and why there is so much difficulty to find the said item. Also please, please tell us your experiences with the said food and the first time you tasted it ( Like going overseas, eating at friend's house, trying a new restaurant, part of the culture, etc.) For the benefit of your fellow food lovers, please list any stores, websites or services that carry the ingredients/utensils and street address and state/country for the store!

  1. Check out  www.foodandbeverageunderground.com

  2. My grandmother has trouble finding cow tounge when she wants to make a dish of "lengua"....it's popular in Mexico.

  3. Marscapone cheese (Italian) and also ladyfinger cakes or cookies to make Tirimisu-Italian dessert. Madrigal Swiss cheese and Calvados apple brandy both French. Japanese Jasmine green tea. Cuban bread. I have difficulty finding these ingredients. The cheeses and tea I do buy when I travel through a neighboring state that has a huge grocery store (Wegman's) close to the interstate freeway. I can buy the Calvados online, but having it delivered is a pain, because I have to be home to sign for it when delivered. I've never found Cuban bread outside of Florida-first had it years ago when on vacation. Don't remember when I first ate the other foods- I grew up in a family of culinary adventurous people.
