Hard to get away from Italian Riviera in Wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Handicap
Monday’s Wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Handicap has attracted a solid line-up of eight runners. Over a distance of two miles and 119 yards, the contestants will pursue a handy prize of £2,264. The class-5 meeting is due to begin at 15:30 GMT.
Tartan Jura is still unexposed at this trip, and has a role to play. Ahead of finishing fourth here last month, the Mark Johnston-trained registered his maiden success at Goodwood in October. His confidence is still at a high and therefore, the punters should
give him some respect.
Similarly, Thecornishcockney has possibilities despite a penalty, which is not prohibitive. After facing numerous defeats early in the career, John Ryan’s trainee finally opened his account here last time, when beating Vimiero by three and a quarter lengths.
Having made two decent outings here, the 3-year-old is fully pumped, and could make things tough for the opponents.
Both aforementioned horses have solid claims, but it is really hard to get away from Italian Riviera. The Sir Mark Prescott Bt-trained is unbeaten since switching to Handicap Company. The 3-year-old has three straights triumphs under his belt, looking good
to offer more.
After facing three awful losses, the son of Galileo got off the mark at the start of November, when trouncing Celtic Charlie by 1¾ lengths. He built on that, and took another marvellous win at Southwell. The 32RedPoker.com Handicap (Div II) saw him cruising
to a comfortable 1¼-length win.
Owned and bred by J. L. C. Pearce, the bay gelding completed his hat-trick, when returned here at the end of last month. Italian Riviera was terrible on his first two outings at Wolverhampton in September.
Showing great improvement, he beat Goldan Jess by a neck’s distance in the 32Red Supporting British Racing Handicap. He is 3-3 in handicaps. The bay gelding boasts a progressive profile, and should be given full respect in today’s contest. No one is likely
to trouble him.
Kazbow failed to beat even one rival last time. It is unsure how well he will perform for the new stable. Agglestone Rock was well held in the first two starts since returning from a long layoff. So, it will be very hard for Philip Kirby’s charge.
