My 4 year old Dell computer's 30gb harddrive has been filling rapidly in the past few years due to a rapid increase in my collection of music, videos, and photos on my computer. Now that my harddrive has about 4% of free space left, I need to get myself an external harddrive. My concern is: Am i going to be able to pretty much move my entire itunes library over to the external, in order to free up room on my regular (internal) hardrive? Itunes takes up about 10gb and its still growing, can i move pretty much all of my itunes content onto the external to make some more room?

any help is much appreciated!

  1. Of course you can; if you have an ipod synched to your computer, though, you must have the external hard drive on and connected to your computer when you connect the ipod to the computer or your ipod will sync to whats on your computer; nothing.  An easy way to do this is just go to "my computer" and highlight all the files and folders you want to put on your external and copy/paste them into your external drive.

  2. Wow!  i don't see how you've made it this long!  A 30GB hard drive is TINY by today's standards!

I've had great performance from both Maxtor and WD externals.
