Hardened Wildcat and Beggarthyneighbor worked for Chad Brown ahead of the Bay Shore Stakes
Trainer Chad C. Brown who is sending a couple of 3-year-olds to vie for the Grade 3, $250,000 Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct race course on 7 April, 2012, where seven, 3-year-old colts and geldings will battle it out over a distance of seven furlongs on dirt.
The 3-year-old New Farm owned gelding, Hardened Wildcat is exiting a victory in the Fred Capossela Stakes at Aqueduct, over a distance of 6 furlongs on 10 March, 2012, where he defeated none other than his stable mate, Beggarthyneighbor, in the stretch to
down him to finish second on the day, as Hardened Wildcat wrapped up proceedings with a winning time of 1 minute and 10.89 seconds.
Both first and second of the Fred Capossela wil be representing Chad C. Brown in the Grade 3 Bay Shore Stakes, and as always the trainer does not have a problem running his two stable mates in the same race.
The third place finisher of the Fred Capossela Stakes, How Do I Win, is also pointed at the Bay Shore Stakes, and from the barn of trainer Todd Pletcher, the 3-year-old colt turned in his final work ahead of the race when he breezed half a mile in 48.67
seconds.
The Kentucky bred son of Corinthian, out of mare Silver Crown by Distorted Humor, How Do I Win has been winless in his last three starts, and he will be looking to turn it around in the Bay Shore Stakes as he seeks revenge from Hardened Wildcat and Beggarthyneighbor.
“We sort of had some lofty goals for him,” said Mike McCarthy, Pletcher’s assistant. “He showed a fair bit in Saratoga before he ever started, and he’s training well.”
Chad Brown took out Hardened Wildcat and Beggarthyneighbor out for a breeze as well ahead of the Bay Shore Stakes as the duo worked in company over the Belmont Park training track, where they both turned in five furlongs in 1 minute and 1.45 seconds.
“They breezed really well,” said Cherie DeVaux, assistant to trainer Chad Brown. “Chad didn’t want them to do too much, just work within themselves, and they did. They came out of it well, and they’ve been cooling out fine.”
