Indonesia’s Hardianto Kurniawan stretched his dominating run in the arena as he toppled Deandra Fatwaka in Men’s Singles Second round at the Pertamina Open Badminton Championships 2012 on Monday, December 10, in Jakarta.
The lofty Kurniawan, who is the 13th seed in Men’s Singles main draw in the tournament, played with incredible speed and remained successful in claiming victory while consuming just 15 minutes in the arena.
Kurniawan started his run in a dominating and positive fashion as he played fast badminton without losing his focus at any stage and eventually won the battle in straight sets with a one-sided total on the board.
On the contrary, the un-seeded Fatwaka was shocked with the aggressive play of his higher ranked compatriot as failed to play fast and positive badminton and eventually crashed out without showing his brilliance in the area.
In the first set, the higher ranked Kurniawan showed a wonderful aggression on court from the initial points and constructed a comfortable gap on the board without facing any considerable trouble.
The tempo of the rallies was fast in first game and it was Kurniawan who impressed the fans with his incredible skills on court.
Until the end of first half, the in-form Kurniawan attained a strong position on board by setting up a huge lead.
After the break, the battle progressed in the similar fashion as Kurniawan did not show any mercy to his lower ranked team-mate and easily wrapped up the first set with a spectacular 21-8 score on the board.
In the second game, the situation remained the same as the 13th seeded Kurniawan started his run in a dominating fashion and took a wonderful lead at the early stage.
The perfectly executed smashes and wonderful variations at net helped Kurniawan in staying far ahead on score board until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute interval, the lofty Kurniawan did not slow down the pace of rallies at any stage and eventually remained successful in wrapping up the set with a lopsided margin of 21-6.
