  1. AutoCAD should run on an AMD system, but it will run slower even if the speed is comperable.  If you're not using any of the advanced 3D and modeling functions or xref's, it shouldn't be a problem.  Please note that AutoCAD uses a lot of memory and hard drive space to run (swap file).  Running the hard drive shortens your laptop battery life.


    If you plan on running Windows 7, you'll need at least a 2.4 dual core system with 4 gig ram or your users may be spending a lot of time waiting for drawings to load and commands to load and run.
