Hardwood floors in kitchen before...?

cabinet remodel.

We'd love to get hardwoods put in our kitchen, and we plan on redoing the cabinets and buying new appliances as we have the funds. Currently, the floor is all we can afford. Should we go for it or buy appliances instead (around the same amount in $$)? Can't do cabinets/countertops till we have a lot more cash in hand.

FYI: Husband hates the linoleum floors and appliances work just fine.

I am just worried that our beautiful hardwoods will get ripped up when/if we do a cabinet/countertop/appliance remodel.

Any ideas?

  1. it is wise to work from the top down. That way you don't run the risk of ruining your new floors.

If there's some really good deal on floors right now, and you don't want to miss the opportunity, then buy the materials but don't lay them down until you've done the other work.

Otherwise, make sure to lay down some old carpet remnants if you install the floor then proceed to the other work.
