Hardy, Shanteau, Tourette and Tosky win their respective events: Day three - Speedo Grand Challenge
At the end of day three of the Speedo Grand Challenge, Jessica Hardy, Eric Shanteau, Chad La Tourette and Jasmine Tosky put up great performances in their corresponding meets of competitive swimming, at the William Woollett Aquatic Centre in Irvine, on May 29.
The Women’s 100m freestyle title was clinched by Trojan swimmer, Jessica Hardy, with a sterling time of 54.67 seconds, while Smit wound up second in 55.11 seconds and Jasmine Tosky of Palo Alto settled third in 55.95 seconds.
In the Men’s 100m freestyle final, Nathan Adrian of Cal claimed the gold medal with a winning time of 49.14 seconds. Jason Lezak of Rose Bowl earned the second spot in 49.85 seconds, while Graeme Moore finished third in 49.97 seconds. Dave Walters of USA clinched the B Final of the Men’s 100m freestyle with a sterling time of 50.32 seconds.
Eric Shanteau of Trojan won the Men’s 200m breaststroke with a time of 2 minutes and 11.71 seconds, while Andrew Bree wound up second in 2 minutes and 15.46 seconds. Mike Alexandrov of Trojan snared the third spot with a time of 2 minutes and 20.37 seconds.
Chad La Tourette of Mission Viejo claimed the Men’s 1500m title with a winning time of 15 minutes and 14.52 seconds, whereas, Ricardo Monasterio earned the second place honour with a time of 15 minutes and 48.29 seconds. Michael Zoldos of Stanford finished third in 15 minutes and 52.52 seconds.
In the 200m butterfly meet, Jasmine Tosky won the golden crown with a time of 2 minutes and 09.37 seconds. Katerine Savard of Club de Natacion snared the silver medal with a time of 2 minutes and 12.12 seconds. Taylor wound up third in 2 minutes and 13.31 seconds.
The Women’s 800m freestyle title was taken over by Andie Taylor of Stanford with a winning time of 8 minutes and 40.81 seconds, while Nicole Cheng of Armada earned the second spot in 8 minutes and 51.55 seconds. Dawn Heckman of Trojan finished third in 8 minutes and 54.04 seconds.
Katy Freeman of Santa Barbara won the Women’s 200m breaststroke crown with a time of 2 minutes and 28.06 seconds, while Elizabeth Smith of Stanford secured the second spot in 2 minutes and 30.69 seconds. Tosky settled third in 2 minutes and 32.55 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m backstroke final, Smit clinched the golden crown with a time of 1 minute and 02.32 seconds, while Daniel Bell of New Zealand won the Men’s 100m backstroke final in a time of 55.34 seconds.
The final event of the Men’s 200m butterfly was clinched by Corey Okubo of Azot, with an impressive time of 2 minutes and 03.33 seconds.
