  1. Pansies!  Lots and lots of pansies!

Dusty miller might over winter just fine

where you are.  And then there are t

he ornamental kale and cabbage plants

that look great in the winter.  Not really flowers, but

they do look nice with pansies!

  2. pansies seem to flower all summer, winter, spring and fall  if temps dont go below 10 or 15 degrees.

  3. There is a Perrenial called Hellebores or Christmas Roses aka Lenton Roses.

These flowers are Related to Columbines and bloom in the dead of winter.

I would also consider Crocuses and Siberian Irises for late winter color.

  4. I live in northern South Carolina and the only plant that prospers at my house all winter is pansies.  But they are so hardy and colorful, that I can't wait to plant them in beds and containers in the fall.

  5. Pansies are your best bet.  They will start hitting the garden centers in just a few weeks, but avoid the urge to plant them too soon as they will struggle in the 80 and 90 degree weather.  You can try to find seeds now and get them started in a shady area and transplant around the first of October.
