Harika V. advances into Women’s Singles U19 main round at Junior National Badminton Championship
Harika V., a promising young shuttler in India, continued her roller-coaster run in the arena and eased into Women’s Singles U19 main round after showing exit to Arsheen Syed Saadath in qualifying round encounter at 37th Junior National Badminton
Championship-2012 on Sunday, November 11, in India.
The in-form Harika showed a great performance throughout the qualifying round and stayed confident in the arena which helped her to overpower Arsheen in an inspiring way and she won the match in just 37 minutes.
Harika played planned game throughout the battle, leaving no room for her rival to exploit, and managed to bag victory in straight sets in a remarkable fashion with a reasonable score on the board.
In the meanwhile, Arsheen also played attacking badminton and remained stick around her rival all the way but lost her focus in the ending points of both games and eventually bowed down to Harika with a respectable margin.
Right from the start of first game, Harika played with superb control by remaining fast on court and managed to take over the driving seat at the opening stage.
However, Arsheen also gave a wonderful fight to her talented opponent by taking the bird early and remained close until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Harika managed to build lead by playing with speed and precision and stayed in command. She controlled the pace of rallies when it mattered most and won the opening game with a decent margin of 21-18.
In the second set of this qualifying round battle, both shuttlers again played with impressive precision and remained neck-to-neck until the one-minute break where no one was in clear lead.
After the mid-game interval in second set, Harika displayed her lofty craft by playing well at net and remained successful in controlling the pace of rallies.
The planned play of Harika enabled her to dictate the pace and she managed to win the set in a reasonable fashion with a decent total of 21-17.
Harika finished off this Women’s Singles qualifying round match in 37 minutes with a convincing 21-18 and 21-17 difference on the board.
