Harlequins announce re-signing of number eight Tom Guest – Rugby News
London based English professional Rugby Union club, Harlequins, has announced the extension in stay of their talented back row forwards player, Tom Guest. Officials at the club have confirmed the re-signing of Guest to a new contract with the club in a statement
released on their website on Wednesday, September 28.
The new deal now will allow Guest to remain with the squad until the end of the 2013/14 season.
Harlequins Director of Rugby, Conor O'Shea, has expressed his delight on the resigning of their experienced and talent number eight player Guest. He added, “Tom has been a Harlequin for all of his career and we are delighted that he has committed his future
to us yet again.”
O’Shea has expressed his desire that Guest will continue to work hard to fulfill his career objectives at both Harlequins and England. He expressed his confidence that in the next couple of years Guest will be knocking the doors for selection in England’s
national rugby union team.
The Taplow born Guest started his professional Rugby Union career with the Harlequins during their friendly match against the Natal Sharks in February 2005. He made his premiership debut during the 2005/2006 season. He so far has played 134 appearances for
Quins in both domestic and European competition. He has also scored 20 tries for the Quins in different competitions.
Guest is a Quins academy product. He has already played in the England Saxons and England Sevens sides. An arm injury brought an early end to his impressive 2010/11 season in which he bagged two Man of the Match awards, sponsor’s Player of the Month award
and players’ Player of the Month award.
The 27-year-old Guest has expressed his delight on signing his new deal and extending his stay at the Quins. He added, “In my time at Quins I have seen a massive rise in the professionalism and expectations of the squad, which is why it makes the decision
to stay at Quins an easy one.”
Guest, who is currently struggling with an injury, has expressed his hope that soon he will return to the field to play an active role in the team’s success.
