Harlequins clinch ninth straight victory in Aviva Premiership championship – Rugby News
After thrashing Newcastle Falcons by 39-8 in the ongoing Aviva Premiership championship, Harleguins have secured their ninth straight win in the tournament. Quins dominated the Falcons from the start during the match played at The Stoop on November 27. They
scored six tries in the clash to seal a comprehensive win and occupied the top spot at the point’s tables. Newcastle miss read their opponents and consequently paid the price. They managed to score just one try and a penalty goal during the contest.
The stunning defeat has further pushed the Falcons into a greater situation of helplessness as they are placed on the bottom of the tables with seven points after nine outings. They have won just one match and received seven defeats while one of their encounters
remained result-less.
During the clash, Harlequins’ fly-half Nick Evans put his team into an early lead with the help of a penalty goal. They were well ahead of Falcons after the 27 minutes play with 10-0 lead. Falcons’ centre James Fitzpatrick gave his side a hope of returning
into the match as he crossed the whitewash line of the rivals into the 33rd minute. However, Harlequins led the contest by 15-5 at half time.
The second half proved even more destructive for Falcons as the Harlequins added 24 more points to their total and conceded just three on the other hand. When the final whistle came, Harlequins had an upper hand in the match with 39-8. Seb Stegmann and Nick
