It was a try fest by Harlequins on Sunday, as they took over the Leeds Carnegie in the clash on Sunday. Leeds missed out on the opportunity to get themselves of the last five from the Aviva Premiership table.
Harlequins gave an elaborated 38-3 beating to Leeds Carnegie.
It was an important clash for both the sides in which Danny Care turned out to be a hero for his side. Care played responsibly and went against his former charges, as he played against his former club and showed no mercy to them. Neil Back’s side was taken
by shock and was pushed near to relegation for the first time ever in their Aviva Premiership history.
Care scored the first try in the very first minute of the game and then Joe Gray the hooker chipped in the scoreboard the second try for Harlequins just a few minutes later. Harlequins qualified after this victory for the next year’s European Cup.
On the other hand, Leeds Carnegie is still at the bottom of the Aviva Premiership table. Leeds has only one match remaining in the campaign and that is against Northampton Saints on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
Leeds has a tie on points at the moment with New Castle Falcons, but due to score difference Falcons are ahead and they also have two major clashes remaining. Leeds is most expected to drop to the bottom pit of the table, once the clashes’ are over.
Care played a vital role in the victory, as he capped his side into an early on supremacy when he chipped and grabbed the ballot score for Harlequins in the eighteenth minute. This try was followed by a conversion three minutes later by Nick Evans, who was
assisted by Joe Gray the hooker and Evans was successful in adding three points to the scoreboard.
Adrian Javis, the fly half for Leeds Carnegie gave a major blow to his side when he missed both the penalties and on the other hand, Turner Hall could not finish an excellent assisted by Gonzalo Camacho and Care.
Christian Lewis Pratt scored a penalty to take Leeds make a start on scoreboard, but it turned out to be the only score at the end. After the 51st minute penalty Pratt missed two penalties, both of them bounced off the posts.
An hour in to the game, Care kicked a drop goal and the momentum didn’t die, as Easter scored a conversion two minutes later and gave Harlequins a bonus point. Quins did not stop the thunder and the score kept on coming with the flow. Rory Clegg converted
moments later with the help of Brown the full back, who ran in to create a distraction.
