Harlequins re-sign English international utility back Mike Brown – Rugby News
The Twickenham Scoop based English Rugby Union club, Harlequins, has announced the re-signing of their star international player, Mike Brown. Officials at the club has confirmed the new contract of the utility backs’ player in a statement released on their website on Tuesday, September 6.
Both parties have agreed to a three-year deal, which will allow Brown to remain at the Scoop until the end of the 2013/14 season.
The Harlequins Director of Rugby, Conor O’Shea, has expressed his delight on retaining the services of their talented backs player. He has praised Brown’s excellent ball carrying, ball handling, and defensive and counter attacking skills.
O’Shea said, “We are delighted that Mike has committed himself yet again to the club for effectively the next three seasons and look forward to helping him achieve his goals, both with Harlequins and England.”
Mike Brown has expressed his satisfaction on signing his new long-term deal with the club. He expressed his satisfaction on the fact that he will continue to play alongside his friends. He has praised the training, coaching and other facilities available to the players at the Scoop and thanked the management for their support.
Brown further added, “I am excited to have re-signed to a club that I am so enjoying being a part of. I love playing rugby here with a squad that I have so much belief in. We have a talented, young side that are going in the right direction and want to win more trophies.”
The 26-year-old Brown made his professional Rugby Union debut for the Quins in 2001. He so far has made 156 appearances for the club in different domestic and European competition and has scored 267 points, which includes 50 tries.
Hampshire born Brown made his international debut for England in their tour of South Africa in 2007. He has also played for the England Saxons team. During the 2010/11 Aviva Premiership season, he won the Harlequins Player of the Season and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards.
