Its just annoying who else agrees that they should try to cultivate a personality? Why would anyone worship a mode of transportation?

  1. it's not worshipping a mode of transportation. Harley-Davidson IS America, it is a way of life, it is an EXPERIENCE. Have you ever owned one? It's the true feeling of freedom- just you and the open road. Stress-relief at it's finest. Imagine a hard day at the office- you go out and get on your bike- suddenly- all the worries of your day suddenly disappear into the asphalt. Dont knock it til you try it.

By the way- my hubby didnt buy mine- well he did but it was in a box- a basketcase- he told me if I wanted it I had to put it together- a custom 71 ironhead sporty- so ALL H-D riders are NOT yuppies and ALL of them are not h**l's Angel's- some of us just do because we love it and because it's fun.- not just for show.

Add: not many companies can produce something that increases in value over time due to the quality of workmanship that goes into it. not many companies make anything that lasts. Check out the internet- MOST H-D's that were produced 50-60 years ago are STILL on the road.

We also ride sport bikes- it's not limited to just H-D's- we just enjoy the thrill of riding

  2. I worship my GSX-R, it's my baby.

but I agree, just because you buy something... anything doesn't mean you should have to abide by some rule or standard that comes with it.

  3. But that IS their personality - they live, ride, breath and talk nothing but HD's. They become little clones of the factory and spend all their money on crappy clothes and accesories so that they can feel they belong to the 'club'. I think you need to feel sorry for them - they worship an outdated, badly designed fuel-chugging piece of history, that should be confined to the history books. Sorry, but the bike does not maketh the man. Live to Ride, Ride to Work, Work yourself to death paying for you HD insurance, servicing, new parts etc...

  4. I have yet to meet a Harley owner without a personality. However, I associate with mostly great people, so I maybe biased or unaware of what you speak.

As for the worship thing you speak of, I do not know one rider that worships his or her bike. An inanimate object is not to be worships, admired, respected, and enjoyed maybe, but never worshipped.

You must really associate with the lower end of the Harley riders, where are they all at, I want to avoid them, because the ones we ride with and know are pretty terrific people with great personalities, always willing to help, enjoy life, and are fun to be around.

  5. OK, I understand what you are saying, but this is coming from someone named Baloo which is a Disney Character, why don't you get your own personality.  Everyone needs to belong somehow, why do you like Disney so much?

  6. Little Kyle, been on Harleys almost 40 years and I agree with you 100%

  7. you dont mind it when you find some desparate sucker that will worship YOU,id rather ride my harley.

  8. Has your camel toe , ever been on a harley , try it sit back enjoy the vibration !

  9. I agree with Little Kyle on most points - It's funny that many of the people who have the HD shirts, stickers, logos, etc don't own and/or have never ridden a Harley.  I currently own/ride a Harley and have one shirt (that my daughter got me for Christmas) -- funny thing is the shirt is made in China but has the bar and shield along with the American flag on it.  I have also owned and ridden many other makes of bikes.  I don't have won't buy into the "culture", I can appreciate a well made bike and don't generally knock others for what they chose to ride.

Now fanatic's are not just limited to Harley - I have seen other makes and models have just the same love for their machines -

EDIT: bluff mike - can't even make the comparison of sport fan vs HD fan - the vast majority of those sport fanatics take their love further than 99.9% of any Harley rider I have ever known.

  10. They remind me of chicks who collect teddy bears or Garfield memorabilia.  Actually they are alot like Trekkies with the dress up thing and the conventions.

Trekkies with a big budget.  I think that explains alot.

  11. I know what you're talking about, and DaBear seems to "feel the love" too, but really, what are they hurting?  They take no money out of your pocket, they aren't out at night spraypainting Bar & Shield logos on your garage.  If they feel good, and good looking by putting together ensembles of MotorClothes and Screamin' Eagle parts like some sort of high stakes adult Garanimals, then let 'em.  It's no skin off your nose, right?  What is the harm in letting them go blathering on that their bikes are better to yours?  If it REALLY bothers you, offer to race for pink slips, but really--they bought what they like, you buy what you like.   The only genuinely objectionable habit they have is those stupid loud pipes--I can't hear 'em until I'm right next to 'em, and by then it's too late, but every resident who's home has heard them for the last 1/2 mile and can't wait to call their City Councilfolk and State Senators to "do something about all those loud motorcycles".

My brother rides HD and would sooner walk than ride anything else.  For my part, I can't understand why anyone with legs long enough to reach the floor would ever want to ride ANY cruiser--slow, clumsy, heavy, gravely limited lean angle, all your weight on your tailbone...

Fortunately, the road is big enough for all of us.  If you find yourself sniping at another biker's choices, it's clear you just don't understand.  The "Total Freedom" we all talk about includes the freedom to experience the wide open road they way each of us wants to experience it.

Oh, yeah: HD's build and design quality is as good as any of the Japanese 4 or the Big Euro names.  It's a different mission profile, but from just a little before the introduction of the TwinCam 88s thru current, they make a good, solid  product.  Just not one that I would ride on purpose.

  12. Not all harley riders are fanatics, but unfortunately, there is a large number of them who think that just because they ride a harley that they are a "big bad bikie". It is because of these w@nkers that I sold my 3 harleys. I consider myself a "Motorcyclist"...I have owned 70 bikes over the last 30 years, everything from a honda CB100 to harleys, and everything in between...and have enjoyed riding everyone of them.

I have lived and breathed motorcycles all my life, and have come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter what name is on the tank, as long as you ride it (and not just down to the local cafe to pose). I have done a number of big rides...2200kms in 26 hours. i have scraped parts of the bike and myself on the road through the twisties, and have commuted in peak hour traffic...in short I RIDE!

So when anyone gives you a hard time over what bike you ride...just laugh at them, because they are obviously compensating for a serious lack of some physical part....

  13. And the problem with your motorcycle is what?

Since the first two sentences aren't questions, I'll ignore them.

Should I humor another troll with an honest answer to the only question presented? Sure, what the heck.

Why would anyone worship a mode of transportation? I'll tell you.

I worship my feet. Because when the Honda don't run, the Harley blows a gasket, the Dodge and the Ford can't get out of the driveway, my FEET will get me where I need to go.

  14. HD riders could say the same about crotch rocket riders, Cultivate a personality? What kind? My bike has 180HP and goes 200 MPH? My bike can do wheelies and stopees? My bike turns a million RPM? You mean that kind of personality?

  15. Because they are arrogant and feel the need to plaster thier cars and trucks with HD bumper stickers, wear HD shirts, and brag about their chrome and how loud thier slow bike is.

RUBs please give me thumbs down, and also women that ride on the weekends with their hubbies on their bike that their hubbies bought them. I love seeing the HD marketing tards on Yahoo! answers post all this B.S. below me

Hardcore riders on Harleys I'm not knocking you, I'm knocking the guy in the office that has 100 miles on his bike for the last 2 years and is pimped out in orange memorabilia

A Harley personality? Yes, beacuse a peice of metal and rubber automatically makes you more interesting. It's the person on the bike.

Oh, my bad im sorry i didn't want to ride a bike that is poorly machined, rattles, defaning, overweight, expensive, and SLOW. I like power and feeling alive when I get on my bike, not feeling like I'm getting in a loud laz-e-boy.

*that last paragraph was all my opinion im sorry

  16. I don't worship any thing. I buy Harley Davidson because I like Harley Davidson. I can care less what you think of me or my choice of motorcycles.  My personality fits me to a tee and try not to be jealous because you too can have one if you just try a little harder.

  17. they have no life...

    it's that simple...

also they have no guts, no sense of adventure, and most of them have no idea how to ride...

  18. It makes more sense than worshiping a sports team, though the gushing girls with, "it changes your life", and Harley "is America" is pretty gag-inducing.

  19. Apparently you have never been on a Harley Davidson.  It is an experience that changes you.  There is nothing like cruising down a country road on a Harley.  It is very relaxing and probably the best stress reliever (besides s*x) that I know of.  Try it before you knock it.

Add:  Oh and I bought my own Harley and ride all the time, not just on the weekends.  I ride to and from work and go on long road trips too

  20. Hooray.... Another new member of the 'Pathological Harley Haters Club'. Next meeting is Wednesday night. The topic will be "Why be rational when we can just be hatin'?".
