Question:

Harley Davidson Sportsters Jiffy Stand?

Hit a road gremlin that took out the back tire and scraped up the underside of my bike - I am fine considering taking it into a shop to look at the rim just as a precaution, but the jiffy stand I should be able to do myself.

The bike is a 2003 HD Sportster - the jiffy stand got a bit scraped up and won't spring back into place. I got a new spring for it but it is still not working the way it should. The manual I have doesn't give a good diagram and I have searched on-line for a picture but can't locate one. Anyone out there with a similar bike be able to take a picture of the jiffy stand and specifically the spring and let me know. Any other suggestions or links would also be helpful.

  1. nothing there but a spring and a pin .. sure something is bent.. not much to the stand.. sportster  also

  2. I would definitley send you a photo but I do not have the type bike you are delaing with. Suggest you go to HD and take a pix with your phone or digital camera on the show room floor. Explain what you are doing and I am sure no salesman will mind...From the sounds of things from the other responders there is not much in the line of mechanical linkage/fasteners to this stand so it should be straighforward once you get the irst hand look-see. Good luck and nice to hear that nothing happened to you and nothing serious to the scoot

  3. at the risk of having cornhole report me again ,i'll answer this.....i had the same problem with my 95,the pin that you attatch the spring to got bent, have no idea of how to straighten it ,unless you heated it up and put a short piece of pipe over it and pried it forward again.

i found it easier to bend the tab on the stand itself with a pair of vice-grips.

do the regulars on here a real favor and report every q & a that cornhole posts.

  4. Im impressed most people think its a kickstand.Only Harley calls it a jiffy Stand. Yours must be bent. Nothin there except the stand a pin on the frame to attach the spring.
